About us

MotionLab.Berlin started as a simple idea: a place to build things without hidden costs, without buying your own machines, and without doing it alone. Since then, members of our community have exited to Ford Motor Company for over €250 million, raised multiple million-euro rounds, and built technology changing how the world manufactures, moves, and heals. We are Germany's official Deep Tech Hub – with our focus always on hardtech and the people driving transformative technology forward.

A space to build. A community to build with. Join us now!

Halle 20 Campus Alt-Treptow

Where founders, engineers, makers, and artists build hardtech and shape the world around them.

Startups Creatives Corporations

The infrastructure is real. Eight labs. CNC machines. Laser cutters. Metal workshops. 3D printing at scale. If you're building physical things, you need physical tools. We have them.

The community does the rest. 110+ startups have called us home. Some have raised rounds. Some have exited. Most are still building – and they're still here.

This is what a typical Tuesday looks like. Founders troubleshooting prototypes. Engineers in the makerspace. A mentor dropping by. No one's here by accident.

Recognition

MotionLab.Berlin is recognised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) as Germany’s official Deep Tech Hub – part of the de:hub initiative. That recognition reflects what the community has built over eight years – not the other way around. Built for people who make things. From lab to market – since 2017.

2017
Back in 2017, Fridtjof, Chris and Christoph found an empty hall in Alt-Treptow. With a loan from the Berlin Industrial Group, they rented it and started building.
2018
MotionLab.Berlin was officially founded – and with it, a community that would shape everything that followed.
2019
Between 2019 and 2022, the community built the space as much as the space built the community. Labs were added, programs launched, and the Hardtech Innovation Accelerator welcomed its first cohort.
2022
By 2022, the original hall in Alt-Treptow was no longer the whole story. Campus Marzahn opened – a second location built for companies ready to move from prototype to industrial scale.
Today
Today, MotionLab.Berlin is a 25-person team, a community of over 2,000, and home to more than 110 companies. It is Germany's official Deep Tech Hub.
2027
The next chapter is already taking shape. In 2027, ringberlin opens in Mariendorf – 17,000 square metres and a new scale for everything MotionLab.Berlin has been building toward.
